I knew what I had to do. I loved being a working mom, but deep down, I knew what the right choice was.
But I was scared.
What if my husband didn’t agree?
What if I couldn’t find work to do from home?
What if I didn’t make enough money to help pay the bills and maintain our same standard of living?
What if I didn’t like being isolated at home?
What if I failed?
But my desire to come home was greater than my fears. When I looked at my daughter’s face, when I remembered how her daycare provider failed to keep her safe, when I thought about what really mattered most, I knew I had to come home.
How were we going to make it?
My salary, at the time, was 3/4 of our family’s combined income. My husband had switched careers and had taken a pay cut to do so. Losing my income would be devastating to our family.
All I knew was I had to do it.
So I prayed.
and prayed and prayed and prayed.
And God moved.
My husband, though very skeptical that we could survive, agreed that I should come home.
My employer allowed me to work part-time hours for my final month at work. They even told me if I ever wanted to come back full-time, to just let them know.
My parents and in-laws supported me.
And I began my journey from a corporate working mom to a work at home mom.
I wish I could tell you it has all been easy, but I can’t.
I can tell you that whenever a problem or difficult situation came up, it was always resolved to our benefit.
I can tell you that people stepped in and gave me help when I didn’t know where to turn.
I can tell you that I found paying at-home jobs that helped pay the bills while I built my business.
I can tell you that I found help in starting a business doing work I loved and earning over $25,000 my first year in business.
I can tell you that I’ve been able to be at home with my now two children for over 10 years.
I can tell you that I’ve even been able to stay at home with my kids after unexpectedly becoming a widow.
I can tell you that all of my success happened because I prayed and then did my part.
You can do it too.
If God has placed the dream to work from home in your heart, He can make it happen. You just have to believe He means it for you and take the first step in faith.
I’m here to help you.
I’ll share the steps I took (and the ones I wish I took), the lessons I learned, and the resources that helped make it possible.
I’ll challenge you, support you and cheer you on.
It will be a journey, but don’t give up or get discouraged. Just keep taking one step at a time.
